Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hi everyone,

I just bought a new set of headphones and noticed something odd.

When I charge them and the white light doesn't blink anymore (indicating a full charge) I disconnect them but notice I don't get the stated 20 hours battery life, I get 19h 40m and can't go above that.

I've tried multiple times to disconnect, connect and charge again but the result is the same, I don't get the 20 hours.

Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thank you,

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hello rafaj90,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Bose Community Forums.

I am sorry that you are having issues charging your NC 700 headphones and I would love to assist you. To start with, please can you try the following for me:

1. Go to http://btu.bose.com on a computer and update your headphones software.

2. Perform a product reset, to do this:

- Disconnect all cables from the headphones.

- Connect one end of the USB cable to a USB-A wall charger or computer that is powered on.

- Press and hold the Power/Bluetooth® button while connecting the small end of the USB cable into the USB-C port on the right earcup.

- Release the Power/Bluetooth button after 2 seconds.

I look forward to hearing how you get on.

Kind Regards,

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hi!

I've done as instructed.

Sofwate was up to date so no change there, did the reset but didn't noticed anything different.

After the reset I charged the headphones, disconnected them once white light stopped blinking and still the battery level won't go up from 19h40m.

Any other ideas?

Thank you,

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hello rafaj90,

Thank you for getting back to us and for trying the suggested steps.

Are you using the official Bose charging cable that was provided with the original packaging?

Are you charging through an AC power outlet or through a USB in a laptop or a power bank etc?

Warm regards,

Charlotte G

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hi!

Yes, I'm using the cable provided with the headphones.

I charged them using a computer, I don't own a power bank.

Thank you,

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hello rafaj90,

Thanks for letting me now.

Would it be possible to try and charge the headphones through an AC power outlet for the purpose of testing? I have seen a similar situation before where the charging behavior was different when charging through a computer in comparison to a wall outlet.

Let me know if this is something that is possible for you.

Warm regards,

Charlotte G

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hi again,

I've tried with the AC adapter from my cell phone charger and the cable provided with Bose, end result was the same, battery level won't go up from 19h40m on the Bose Music app despite the headphones having a 100% charge.

Thank you,

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hello rafaj90,

Would it be possible to connect your headphones to another device with the Bose Music app to test for the same results?

Warm regards,

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

I'm having the same issue. Fully charged only indicates 19 hours and 10 minutes.

Tried everything above as well.

Re: Bose 700 NC - Doesn't Charge Fully

Hello Devil13,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the Bose Community. Sorry to hear that the steps above did not resolve this for you.

Please could you answer the following:

  • When connecting to a second device does the same battery percentage show?
  • Also can you please let us know if the app shows 100% or less?
  • I would also like to know if you power cycle the headset does it still report the same length?

I look forward to hearing back from you with the answers to these questions.

Kind regards,

Hector B
