Bose 700: Noice cancellation button during call does not announce level changes

When I am in a call on my cell phone or computer with my headset connected to the phone/computer, if I press Noise Cancellation button on the left side headphone, it doesn't announce the level, so it is hard to know whether you are on the noise cancellation level 0, 5, or 10. It changes the level though and can be seen on the mobile app. However, if I am only listening to the music, then upon the press of the button it announces the new selected noise cancellation level. So the difference is really whether your microphone is in use or not. Is it normal behavior in these headsets that the noise level will not be announced when you are on a call with your headsets?
