Bose NC 700 disconnect when chosen as microphone input in QuickTime Player

Whenever I choose the Bose NC 700 as the microphone input source in QuickTime Player on macOS, the headphones disconnect. The same happens when I go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Input. It looks like whenever the headphones are supposed to act as a microphone input, they get disconnected.

Please fix this fast. At this price tag, such an error is not acceptable. I cannot use the Bose NC 700 to record audio.
