Bose QC35 ii microphone not working

Hi there, I have an issue with the microphones on my Bose QC 35 ii where everything else works but the microphone, I've seen this as a thread a few times on here, tried all of the solutions and none of them worked, reset using the turn off for 30 charges for 5 etc, cleared Bluetooth list. any ideas?

Bose QC 35 II microphone no longer working

I've found similar topics of the Bose QC II's microphone stop working. 

Similarly, my microphone does not pick up audio on any phonecalls whether it be my phone or computer via bluetooth.

to my disappointment, the product is no longer under warranty, and co-incidentally a few months later the hardware disappoints. 

I've called customer service to try and get some troubleshooting other than hard reset, and was disgusted to hear your warranty fix price is 66% of what the newest model costs!

I've tried hard resets, updating the firmware, forgetting all other audio devices, and just about every other trick this forum has to offer.

my recommendation, don't buy the QC 35's, they're clearly not built to last.

Sorry that you're experiencing some issues with the microphone on your QC35 II's. 

 

I just have a few questions to see if we can get this resolved.

 

Are you connected to your devices via Bluetooth or the audio cable?

Have you tested them with an alternative device?

If you record a video when your headphones are connected via Bluetooth, is any audio picked up?

It's a shame that you're also encountering a microphone issue. Are you using cellular calls or VoIP calls such as WhatsApp?

yes tried with various devices can't get any audio on videos or calls. none of the reset tricks work etc

Are you able to inform us on all the troubleshooting you have already attempted so we do not re-advise you?

 

Were you able to connect to your devices via Bluetooth and the audio cable?

If you record a video when your headphones are connected via Bluetooth, is any audio picked up?

I have the Bose QC35 ii. It's worked flawlessly for nearly four years. I love them. They go with me everywhere. Just yesterday all of a sudden people could not hear me on calls. I thought the mic had finally given out, but this is not the case as the google assistant still hears me and responds to commands. I've tried the Bose "factory reset" which does not work. When I follow the instructions for the factory reset and then turn the headset back on it immediately connects to my phone... hence it's not fully reset. Contacted Bose. They confirmed the factory reset was not happening as I followed instructions with them live over the phone. They said I should just wait for an update. That is total BS. I can't wait for an update. I have the latest firmware and this needs to be fixed. Also, I'm running this on a Pixel2 and google is not issuing, and hasn't issued any updates since Oct2020 and this just happened a day ago. **bleep**.

 

I've also confirmed that the problem is with my headphones because the mic doesn't work on calls on a friend's phone I paired with and tried. I need a solution ASAP.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing with the mic on your headphones. I will do all I can to help!

 

I would recommend that you try clearing the pairing list on the headphones and your source device then connect like a new connection. I have included the instructions for this HERE

I've tried this a few times. I even wiped every connection from my phone, my car, my bose soundlink, my conference box etc. What a pain.... I'm going to have to re-pair all of those.

 

This is a software/firmware problem with the headphones. I connected to a friends phone and same results. I can use google assistant, but nobody can hear me on calls. The problem is the headphones!

 

How about you all at Bose publish how to actually hard reset the headphones or admit there is no way to do so. I'm not the first to notice that what you've published doesn't work. Even on tech support today they gave me different instructions than what is published... and it still didn't work. Is there a way to actually restore the headphones to factory defaults?

Sorry to hear that this didn't resolve this issue for you Grossman83. 

 

There isn't a method to fully hard reset the headset back to factory defaults. Only a standard product reset, followed by the clearing of the pairing list.

I did reach out to customer "support". They offered to sell me a new pair at a reduced price of $209. The issue is that my headphones were fine until I did a Bose firmware upgrade from the app.

 

Look, if I'd dropped the headphones and they quit working I'd understand that would be my fault. However, I upgraded the firmware from your app and the microphone quit working on calls. It works with google assistant (and alexa). This tells me the problem is software/firmware. I tried on an friend's phone and got the same results. This tells me it's not my phone but the headphones.

 

I'm really pissed off here and I expect better from Bose. How is there no reset to factory defaults to clear issues like this? How is nobody at Bose begging me to send my headphones in so that they can find the firmware bug and fix it? Why did no supervisor call me back as I was promised after an hour on the phone on Thursday? Do you really expect people to put up with this?
