Bose Quitecomfort Headphones mutes all audio when the microphone is used.

After using my headphones for some time, I have come across this problem time and time again. Whenever the microphone is in use, i.e. a phone call or a voice chat, all audio not pertaining to the call (and sometimes the audio of the call) are muted. This applies to skype, discord (where even the call itself is muted), phone calls, etc.

There is a simple fix for this, which is to just switch the output device to the "Hands Free AG Audio", however this substantially lowers the sound quality and removes the noise cancelling which is the reason I have these headphones.

I have seen countless other forums and chats about this yet I can not find a reasonable other than "you can't", which seems ridiculous considering it is such a simple function.

Hello,

Thanks for your message and welcome to our Community forums. To clarify - what audio are you referring to, is this music?

During phone calls, your connected device (phone/tablet/computer) will typically use the Bluetooth hands-free profile or headset profile (HFP/HSP), to enable the use of the microphone. This is a lower quality of audio, but allows for both microphone and speaker use to your note. The connected device will instruct and command the type of active connection - as noted by your ability to manually select the Bluetooth connection type. Additionally, the connected device will manage the audio being output to the headset.
