Bose music app will not allow me to create an account

I've just purchased the Bose 700 noise cancellation headphones. I was able to connect the headphones by bluetooth then I downloaded the Bose Music app to my iPhone Xs Max and it would not allow me to sign in as it would "spin" without stop. I deleted the app and reinstalled it but to no avail.

I decided to try it on my iPad and it worked - I was able to sign in and access the set up fine. Why is it that it worked with the iPad and not the IPhone? While the headphones work well using either the iPad or the IPhone, it would be nice if the Bose Music app were to work on both as opposed to only on the iPad.
