Falling Apart ! - Foam Ear Cups

Paid 375 for noise cancelling Bose headphones. 2 years later the foam ear cups have completely come apart. Sounds like a common manufacturing defect. Is there a replacement policy from bose? fix? Loyal brand customer for years, is this my last bose purchase?

Hi jstefanko,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the community.

It is possible to get replacement ear cushions for your headphones. We have ear cushion kits available for many of our around-ear headphones. The easiest way to get hold of these is to reach out to your local support team.

You can find the contact information at this link, by selecting your country/region and then the 'Contact Us' option at the bottom of the page.

I hope this helps.

Re: Falling Apart ! - Foam Ear Cups

These are considered a wearable item and will need replacing over the lifetime of the headphones.  Much like tyres on a car, you expect that the tyres will need replacing before the car, depending on outside factors (road conditions, speeds etc) and may be considered a non-warranty issue.

Factors that tend to affect the cushions faster are moisture (humidity, sweat etc will tend to expand the foam and split the seams), pressure (people sleeping with them will distort the shape) and contact (short hair, stubble, earings, glasses will all rub at the cushions and they will start to get "bald" in places).

But most countries you can order the cushions online and they are easily replaceable.
