I have a pair of the headphones listed above. when connected via bluetooth the microphone works, but the audio frequently pops and cuts out. similar to an old radio. when connected via cable only the audio works, luckily when connected with the cable the audio is perfect.
I have updated to the most recent version of windows 10, and have updated driver settings to the best of my ability.
I use an HP pavilion Gaming Desktop.

1. which headset - QC35i, QC35ii AE or QC35ii AZ?
2 the issue is Bluetooth (BT) related so one would not expect the error to happen when connected to cable as you are getting your audio from the 3.5-inch minijack on your PC and not through the BT hardware
3. who is the vendor for your BT hardware - for example on my Dell Precision M4800 laptop, the BT vendor is Intel. H-P is not the BT vendor. Have you looked to see if you have latest updated BT drivers from that vendor (do not get the drivers from H-P).
4. I have a pair of QC35ii AE. I can plug them in via wire. They will work two ways then. Either no active noise cancellation (ANC) if the QC35ii is switch OFF or with ANC if the QC35ii is switched on.
5. You may be having the same issue as described in the 34 screens of this post: https://community.bose.com/t5/Around-On-Ear-Headphones/QC35-Bluetooth-Stuttering-Drop-outs/m-p/23495...
