Go to https://bose.life/2K1GbJl for a helpful post on how to find relevant information, including your firmware and app version information!

Bose product name:  Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Noise Cancelling Headphones

Country: New Zealand

Firmware Version

App Version:: Latest update just installed.

What devices were you using that were affected and what version are they on (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S9 on Android 11, iPhone X on iOS14, etc.) Samsung S21 and MacBook Pro.

Detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce: When I wasn't using my Bose headphones but they were in the room i found that what I was listening to on my Samsung S21 was coming through my headphones instead of directly.

What environment do you experience the issue in? (e.g. noisy office, quiet kitchen, etc.): quiet bedroom

When did you start to experience the issue? Did it work correctly previously? 30th May 2021. It has worked well until this happened.

Any troubleshooting steps you took:

  • Turn the headset off and wait for 30 seconds.
  • Plug the headset into a USB power supply via USB cord and wait 5 seconds. (Power supply needs to be plugged into the wall with power on).
  • Unplug USB cord from the headset and wait 1 minute.
  • Turn on the headset and test if the headset works properly.

NO RESULT.

@myra2016(I do not work for Bose)

This is a known 2+ year old hardware issue which has NO workaround.  The on/off switch contacts are slipping.  You can either look here or search elsewhere for a DIY fix or you can call Bose and ask for an exchange.  Outside of warranty they will offer an exchange at a rather steep price.  Take it if you want.  Others here has shared that persistence in repeatedly calling back and/or 'escalation' will eventually yield a representative who will offfer a free exchange 'this one time' if you explain that you are part of the group with the hardware malfunction.  Again - no firmware change fixes the problem nor any change in settings or initialization.

Re: My Bose 35 Quiet Comfort headphones keep turning themselves off and on randomly.

I have solved this problem with my Bose Quiet Comfort headphones. For a few weeks I was either using my headphones or kept them on charge. This has reversed the problem. They are back to normal now and don't randomly turn on/off by themselves. Yay.
