Re: NC 700 - Can you disable AUTO-OFF?

The power button is so sensitive, if you just breathe on it, it will turn off.

My guess is your pillow or something barely touched it, so it powered off.

It's kinda silly that they didn't make it a long press to power on/off.

I really question the intelligence of some of these engineers.

Re: NC 700 - Can you disable AUTO-OFF?

Bose's response is changing this from 10 minutes to 1 hour.  This is completely unaccepatable.  Just give us the ability to customize the experience in the app.  It's a very simple solution to an idiotic problem.

Example....I have a Samsung smart-TV.  The TV has an optional shut-off feature if the channel has not been changed in 4 hours....keyword: OPTIONAL.  So, as the user, I have the ability to decide if I want this energy saving feature active or inactive.  It's my TV....I paid for it....it should be my choice.  Take a hint, Bose, and stop treating us like irresponsible children who can't remember to turn off our electronics.  I'm a big boy now and I want to be treated as such.

Sincerely,

A grown-ass 46 year old adult who is fully capable of managing the battery life of my electronics

So, Bose is limiting the time we can sleep, or meditate, or listen to music motionless to one hour instead of 10 minutes.  No thank you,

Re: NC 700 - Can you disable AUTO-OFF?

Just happened to me on a 10 hour flight. Needless to say my sleep was not successful with this feature. So annoying.

Just so everyone knows. Skull Candy (Crusher ANC), Sennheiser PXC 550-II, Sony’s h.ear on 3 WH-H910N and Phillips PH 805 are all releasing in Sept & Oct. I’m sure there will be more coming with other brands in Jan. For CES.

Re: NC 700 - Can you disable AUTO-OFF?

Bose has made many fine products. I still have the original Bose 3-2-1 sound system for TV's-perhaps close to 20 years-and not a moments problem.
Unfortunately, the Bose NC 700 is not one of those fine products.
The auto-shutoff feature is what would be described as "a fatal flaw", a flaw that negates whatever else about the product may be acceptable, perhaps even exceptional.
Anything short of being able to totally disable it remains a fatal flaw.
I called the support number 5 times. I asked if I could exchange the NC 700 for the QC II 35s. The first agent told me a newly manufactured version of the NC 700 would "solve all your problems". Since there is no indication that this model has been re-engineered, I doubted it. After 4 more calls to the support center, I was connected to a "product specialist". She agreed to exchange the NC 700 for a QC 35 II s with the understanding that I would not get a refund for the $50 difference in cost. To me, that is better than the NC 700 becoming a paperweight. Looking at the Community postings, I may be exchanging 1 set of problems for another-but at least not one with the fatal flaw of auto shut-off. I do appreciate Bose's accommodation. However, I would never buy another Bose product on "faith" in the company to produce the finest product worth the premium cost. For me, how I feel about Bose is close to how I have felt since the Dodgers left Brooklyn!

Re: NC 700 - Can you disable AUTO-OFF?

Please forgive the cross-posting here.  I'm trying to get some traction before I need to return these headphones.

I called Bose today to inquire about the motionless auto-shutoff feature.

The representative indicated that there were no plans to resolve my issue as the product is working as intended.  The only remedy would be if enough people expressed concern then it would be addressed.  I don't know what enough is but I took the liberty to draft an email.  Please feel free to copy, paste and send Bose support and email.  Perhaps we can have this address with a little teamwork.

Subject: Motionless Auto-shutoff Bose 700

To whom it may concern:

I am one of the numerous Bose 700 headphone users that uses the headphones to sleep, meditate or listen to audio while being motionless for greater than ten minutes.

Hearing a jarring sound when the motionless auto-shut feature activates is not only jarring but it defeats the purpose of the headphones.

Please acknowledge your intent to remedy and timeframe so that I and others can decide to return the headphones while in the acceptable return window.

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

Regards,
