NC Headphones 700 microphone not working on PC

Dear Support,

 

i've recently bought the NC 700 Headphones and tracked some software issues.

I've decided to get the product cause of it's headset function.

The Description claims it's possible to make phone calls with 2 of the built-in microphones.

Indeed the microphones are working with Android but not for Windows.

 

What I've tried so far:

* Bluetooth connection to Windows 10 & 7

* Audio/USB connection to Windows 10 & 7

* Factory reset

* Reading other threads about mic issues (seems to be a known issue since release)

* SW Update

 

Somehow i was not able to get the microphone work on a PC.

Could you please provide me some information about how to get the mic working?

 

I'd appreciate a quick reply.

Hey @sambouwer,

 

your suggestion brang me one step further.

I replaced the "Generic Bluetooth Radio" driver with "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" which made my Windows recognize the Headphones as a Headset.

From now on Win10 shows the microphone in the mic list.

However it is still not possible to use the mic.

Whenever i try to use the mic it will make my software go not responding and finally runs into a timeout.

@Scarface2k14 glad you made progress already! Is your headset connected to any other device when you connect to your Windows 10 device? (other laptop or phone) if so, please disconnect those first and then connect in Windows 10 again. Based on your screenshots Im not sure whether you removed the right driver... Was it the one for your headpones? Windows should automatically install the right drivers once you refresh the device list in the device manager.

thanks for the quick reply!

The headphones are only connected to my Win10 PC.

I also cleared my bluetooth device list to ensure my headphones are only connected to my PC.

Also the headphones are the only bluetooth device connected to my computer.

This is how my Device-Manager looks like:

@Scarface2k14 I think that's how my Bluetooth device manager looks too. Have you checked the default communication device in the windows audio settings? If your headphones are set as default audio device there I wouldn't know what else to check..

My headphones are the default device for sound and voice, thats not the issue.

Thank you anyways for your help.

I've purchachsed only bose speakers so far, and all of them were working great, except this headphones.

There are too many major software issues not beeing resolved.

If Bose support won't take care of my problem I should rather buy Teufel speakers from now instead.

You're using the wrong bluetooth profile as indicated by above screenshot. The microphone doesn't work in Stereo mode (A2DP), this is not a limitation of the headphones but rather the bluetooth standard itself.

 

Click on the speaker icon in bottom right tray and select the Bose hand-free profile device to get a working microphone.

I tried as you suggested but it made my problems worse:

 

1. Prepared a clean set-up:

  • BT Device list cleared. Re-installed BT driver.

2. Headphones connected by bluetooth

  • It says Voice, Music connected:

3. Switched audio profile from "Stereo" to "Hands-Free"

  • From this point, all software (even windows GUI) freeze when trying to access the headphones.
    • For example opening Windows Sound Manager causing the whole explorer to freeze. Same for voice messengers like TeamSpeak.
  • After a while when the timeout is reached, the Sound Manager opens
    • Everytime i click any button it will cause again a software freeze:

Any suggestions? :S

 

Questions

Is it possible that the mic only works over BT 5.0 technology? My current chip is 4.0

Hi @Scarface2k14 sorry to hear it got worse. I don't think it's related to the Bluetooth version, although I have 5.0 on my Dell X0S 15. I might have missed a point in your previous post. I deinstalled the Bluetooth driver that is installed for the 700s specifically, and I think you installed the generic driver for the whole Bluetooth chip. You could try to uninstall the generic driver for the Bluetooth device/chip and let windows automatically install the right version (just rescan for hardware in the device manager, that should be enough to trigger the installation). You might end up with the same Bluetooth chip driver, but it's just to make sure it is the right driver. Then you can connect you 700s and uninstall the Bluetooth driver for your headset specifically. Leave the headset connected/turned on. Then again scan for new hardware which should trigger the installation of the right Bluetooth driver for your headset. Hope it helps! Have a good weekend!
