Over the past several years we have added new online service channels that provide a more interactive and complete digital experience. Additionally, we have enhanced the My Bose Account capabilities to deliver a more personalized and self-service experience. As a result, Bose has made the decision to close Community Forum for Consumer electronics products on September 30th. The Bose Pro portion of the Community will still operate as usual.

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback regarding their reported battery life after updating to the recent Noise Cancellation Headphone 700 firmware. Based on your reports, we were able to reproduce the battery announcement that you have been experiencing.

At this time, our engineering team should not need any further details regarding the issue and is working on it. Your feedback has been critical to us being able to reproduce this issue, and once more, we thank you.

We appreciate your patience while we address this for you! We will provide an update soon.

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

Moderators,

Thank you for being open and honest about the most recent Headphone 700 battery life issue. THE COMMUNITY LOVES IT WHEN YOU ARE TRANSPARENT. I get having issues with your products and software can be embarrassing and frustrating but being honest with all of us and providing updates frequently will keep everyone happy and content. The fact that Bose acknowledges an issue means that someone is working on the back end for a solution. However, avoiding conflict and not answering our questions makes everyone more upset and mad.

Good job, Bose!

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

Just purchased the NC700, had firmware Version 1.1.4 which I updated to 1.4.12 via Bose Updater on Windows 10. I can confirm same battery prompt. Overnight charging, and 17 hours and a few minutes max is shown. My info:

• Bose product model: NC 700
• Bose product firmware version (screenshot if possible): 1.4.12.6283.9f658fd
• Bose app version (screenshot if possible): 3.3.4
• Detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce: turn on headphones prompt says 17 hours as battery after overnight charging, app shows same
• Where do you run into the issue? Where and when did it first occur?: I never tested product with old firmware to compare, new user so updated right out of the box.
• What services are you using that were affected and what version are they on? (E.g. iPad Pro on iOS 12.9): connected to Pixels with latest Android 10 and MacBook Pro 16 inch with MacOS and Bootcamp
• When did you start to experience the issue? Did it work correctly previously?: Read above, brand new
• Any troubleshooting steps you took and effets, if any.:  not so far, posting here for validation

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

Thanks for the acknowledgement of the issue, it's good to know that all of us are not just imagining the same issue, that would be very strange indeed.

You might want to add an additional issue to the list with this update.

When listing for to audiobooks [no background, just the reader] you get brief pops of silence.  It's almost like Bluetooth cuts out for a second.  These silence gaps are very noticeable with audiobooks as you miss a word or two.  Most annoying!

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

Hi,

Alongside the issues I have described in my previous post which seems to be also described by the general public, has anyone also starting having issues with the LED indicator for battery levels. Before the first charge, the LED indicator would change colour from solid white when at full charge to blinking red when the headphones were a low battery and then solid red when the headphones were at critical battery level. Since the first charge and drop in battery life as described by numerous customers, I have also starting having issues with the LED indicator itself. It no longer changes colour no matter what the battery level is, it just remains solid white even at low and critical charge levels and I have been wondering if anyone else has also experienced that ?

Re: Bose 700 noise cancelling headphones charging issue

Hello Bose,

I purchased the Bose 700 Headphones about 3 weeks ago. Only

twice have I heard “battery fully

charged”(after charging with the case) that it kept saying “Battery 19 hours”.

And now since about a week I can’t manage to get the battery higher than 16-17 hours (sometimes it says 16 hours other times 17 hours after leaving charge completely - light was blinking white).

This morning I resetted the headphones according to this post and even though it first said 17 hours after reconnecting right again it jumped back to 16 hours. I put it to charge again, the white light blinked, when it stopped I turned it on again and it still said 16 hours... I have tried all of the following to no avail:

* Reset the headphones as per the instruction manual and this post

* Unpaired the device from the phone and iPad and paired them again

I also have a second issue, whenever I connect to my phone, it connects but the app never shows the connection and it says “not available” no matter how many times I refresh, close and open the app, delete and download the app...

I really love the headphones but am starting to get frustrated with all these issues and am afraid there is something with the battery right from the get go (after the first full charge right after purchase it said “battery 19 hours”...

Thank you

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

While I do agree this is an improved firmware update. I am currently getting the problem, that seems very common on this release, of the battery level (both in app and the voice prompt battery indicator) not showing over 14 hours of life. I charged it all night and it will not report any higher than 14 hours.

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

I am only getting 14 hours no matter what I do. Why only 14 when others getting 17 at least. In any event, I expect prompt resolution from Bose.

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

don't get you're hopes up on a quick response from Bose, it seems that they work on Glacial time [very slow moving]

try their suggestion on resetting you're headset, it might get you something better that 14 hrs

Re: Noise Cancelling 700 Firmware Update - Reduced Battery Life Announcement

I was getting 20 Hours previously to lates Firmware upgrade, once I upgraded it went down to 17 hours for some days (5) and today, it has gone down to 14.

Please @Anne_S or someone else at @bose can give us an explanation on what's going on with this headsets? Not a solution , which I assume you're working hard on it, but just the underlying explanation of what's going on and the reason(s) behind this behaviour.

This is my 2nd Bose product and I can't stand the fact that these are not a pair of cheap headphones as for such a poor experience.

So far I'm getting:

  • Stuttering whnen connected to both my smartphone (Android 10, march 2020 update) and my laptop (Windows 10 pro latest update)
  • Sudden voice/music Slow down when 2 audio sources switch (i.e moving from a Teams meeting to a youtube video)
Quirks and odd noises in some calls
  • Ocassional loop boots after disconnecting it from power source (it cycles 2-3 times emiting weird sounds)
  • 30% Reduced (apparently) battery life after latest FW upgrade
  • Unstable - impossible connections between Smartphone App and Headsets
  • Lack of charge when plugging them for short periods of time. Leaving them plugged for 30 mins seems not to charge anything the battery.

So far I've tried:

  • Resetting (power plug in + bluetooth button)
  • Uninstalling app, resetting data, unpairing from both devices, and re-pairing again
  • Switching between USB chargers (from Oneplus, to Anker, to Samsung, orAlcatel) to discard an issue with the charge
  • leave it charging for more than 24 hours

Honestly, I don't mean to poke in the eye of anyone here, but for a 400$ worth of hardware, the expected experience is far higher than the one delivered.

Is there something that I vahe not done of maybe forgot that can help me solving this? With the original firmware I had disconnections and stuttering but battery was always accurate at least...
