Noise cancelling on Bose 700: zero vs off

On the Bose 700, why is it that the amount of noise that you hear (with the headphones placed around your ear) is different depending on whether the noise cancelling is set to "zero" vs when noise cancelling is set to "OFF"?

Is there a way to turn off noise cancelling with the "favorite" button? I can only cycle between different levels of noise cancelling with the physical "favorite" button.

Thanks

Hello JackDee,

Welcome to the community, thanks for reaching out with your query.

You may find a variation in the two options as when you have your noise cancellation set to zero, the microphones which function the noise cancellation technology are still turned on. With this being set to zero your headphones provides full transparency so that you can hear the world around you as if you’re not wearing headphones. Whereas when this is set to off the microphones are not functioning and will provide a somewhat muffled effect as it will not provide that transparency of being aware of surrounding sounds as the ear cups are providing a somewhat barrier from these.

In setting favourites for your headphone noise cancellation, it is only possible to have a variation of 0 - 10 it is not possible to have a complete off function on your favourites.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Thanks. That's what I suspected was going on

Still, can't see why you shouldn't be able to simply set it to "off" with the physical favorite button.

The option to set "anc disabled" as one of the favourites would be great!
