QC35 II constantly disconnecting and connecting to iPhone X

I use my QC35 II headphones mostly with my work MacBook Pro, connected via bluetooth. I also have them connected to my iPhone X, which has the Bose Connect app. They seem to be constantly disconnecting and reconnecting to the iPhone, every few minutes. It's so bad that I had to turn off voice prompts just to make it through conference calls while connected to my laptop.

 

I've tried forgetting the headphones from both iPhone and MBP, and resetting them up. I've gone through reset steps I've found on other forum posts. And I've updated firmware. I love the quality of the audio, but if this continues I'm going to have to add the hassle of disabling them on all but 1 device at a time. I don't believe I noticed this issue for the first month or two that I had them (purchased in late Nov 2018). Please help!

 

Firmware version: 4.3.6

Bose Connect version: 8.0.0

iOS version: 12.1.4 (I see 12.2 is available, and will be updating)

Are you getting this issue at all when you are only connected to one device?

I haven't had a reason to only be connected to my iPhone since December, so I will have to try that. I do not have the issue when I force disconnect the headphones from my iPhone, and am only connected to my MBP.

I just finished listening to a 30 minute podcast on my iPhone. I had none of the connection issues, even though it was also connected to my MBP. So it seems that when the iPhone is connected but idle, it will constantly disconnect and reconnect.

Hi Itfargo,

 

If there were no issue when connected to your mobile phone, we recommend giving the QC 35 II a reset by:

 

  • Turn off the headset and wait 30 seconds
  • Plug the headset into a wall outlet using a USB charger, then wait 5 seconds
  • Unplug the USB cord from the headset and wait 1 minute
  • Turn on the headset

After doing this, clear and forget it again on your MBP.

 

Test it and update us.

Also, the problem is not the connection with my MBP.

 

- when connected to iPhone + MBP and actively listening to audio on iPhone, it works great.

- when connected to MBP only, it works great.

- when connected to MBP + iPhone and actively listening to audio on MBP, iPhone constantly disconnects/reconnects

 So, I happened to notice one other data point. When I'm listening to music on Spotify on my MacBook, I don't notice the constant disconnect/reconnect happening. So it seems to be happening mostly when I'm using Google Meet (Hangouts) video chat on my MacBook. I don't know if that brings to mind any similar issues.
