Re: QC35 Terrible Bluetooth Connection with MacBook Pro

Thank you so much for posting this solution, Venko! I just bought my QC 35s last week, and couldn't figure out why I was having such poor sound quality when pairing with my Mac. This solution worked like a charm!

Re: QC35 Terrible Bluetooth Connection with MacBook Pro

I used to solve this problem in this way but now it doesn't work. I've changed my MacBook pro (mid2015) for (2019). This is awful. Sound Cancellation doesn't even work.

I have had the exact same issue but it was solved when I upgraded my OS to Catalina.

Re: QC35 Terrible Bluetooth Connection with MacBook Pro

This works, but it's clunky and not what you'd expect from a relatively expensive product (and you won't be able to use the mic to i.e. do calls). Also it's a bit 'hacky' and you never know what a new update will do. It would be better if they'd work out of the box.

Anyways:

  • Go to the Audio Devices Audio MIDI Setup.app (use spotlight search)
  • Click + in the bottom corner
  • Make a new aggregate device and set Built-in Microphone as the only source (input). Don't set any other devices here
  • Set this as the default device (right click and set 'Use this device for sound input')

For some reason, this will make the internal mic the default input always. And the beeping and extermely poor sound quality + hearing your own keys click through the headset are gone.
