I'm interested in recording ATC and mic sound to my iPhone. I have purchased 4 conductor (3 ring) 3.5mm plugs for this purpose. The plugs and cables work well when I am sending music out from the iPhone to the A-20 via the controller audio port.
Is the 1/8 " 3.5mm plug port on the A20 controller good only for audio IN? I can't seem to send audio out using this port when I'm videoing flight.
Thanks in advance,
Harry
I'm pretty sure that's only audio input, not output.
Definitely only audio IN. You cannot use it to record ATC like a LightSpeed headset. What I do is use a splitter on the comm panel and record audio on my iPhone or recorder (keep in mind that your newer iPhones require a TRRS type plug (with 3 rings versus 2)
Hi Hanthony,
As the Guys have said, sadly no, it's just one way for entertainment purposes on the A20.
You can get a splitter lead for recording. Try typing the info in and several Pilot Stores come up with a splitter lead for most input Plugs that will allow you to break out Audio for the TX/RX.
If your Audio Panel allows an Aux, that will sometimes be worth looking at too?
Good luck,
All the best,
Larry
This is what I want to do also. If I can make a phone call with the A20 connected with the 1/8" cable that comes with it, shouldn't it output to a digital recorder?
Hi Marionblair,
The 1/8 Jack is a Music in only. If you are making a call it most likely is going out over bluetooth.
Hope this helps a little?
All the best,
Larry
