Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

Bose, please advise a fix for this.  It is very disappointing with no response to this issue.  We as the consumer need the ability to turn this feature off.  As soon as I am in a state of relaxing the headphones shut off due to no movement.   Does not mean I'm not using them. I am using and actively listening.   If I ever take a plane ride, the headphones will more then likely stay home and I'll take my QC NC15 headphones with me..  Please understand this is a feature that is giving me a bad experience.

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

Hi to Anyone at Bose,

I bought these headphones and loved them! But after a few days use I am so bummed I couldn’t keep them due to this auto off feature. 3 times in one day I tried to take a nap and just about the time I fell asleep this loud turning off chime sounded along with the announcement it was turning off and totally woke me up! What were the engineers thinking when they added this feature? I checked my auto off settings and it was set to never. Also I had the “battery time feature” come on 2 times in a row out of nowhere telling me how much battery life I had left. I wasn’t touching a thing! So needless to say I didn’t get my sleep and I returned these. I’m so sad as I’ve always believed in Bose, but I am changing my mind and now looking elsewhere. Your sound quality is still superb but you should probably add an equalizer as some people like more base. I don’t, but some do. Thank you for the superior quality you do have, this is why I chose you 1st for my 1st pair of over the ear haedphones. The call quality was amazing! Please fix this issue & bugs before you contunue to loose more market share!

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

It’s been two months with nothing but “we are looking in to it” lip service from Bose; obviously they don’t care.

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

Needless to say I returned mine. Their tech support is awful. I called before I returned mine yesterday and all they wanted to do was register my product and get me a firmware update. I told them I was returning this product and I didn’t want to “register it” and I had the latest “firmware update”. When I asked him if there was a “known issue” for these headphones turning off on their own he couldn’t answer it! I found this forum online faster. I worked in the hardware electronics industry for 13 years and tech support for 6 years and to get tech supoort 101 is ridiculous with no answer! He should have pulled that up in his KB right away or known about it! They are losing market share and I’m very sad over this and for the late Mr. Bose that was such a perfectionist that they are not carrying on his name in honor! So, so sad. ☹️ I can only hope they get some engineers with common sense in their company. Who wants headphones to autoshut off when you set them to never turn off? Doesn’t make sense!

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

Returned mine and provided review to amazon as well. Must be really embarrassed in battery performance to not allow user control. If they fix this major flaw and oversight, beware your battery life even dropping more sadly below Sony.

Bose......is there no update on this issue? Seriously it shouldn’t take this long to come with a fix for this issue. The least you can do is give an update. This is not a good image for Bose.

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

Here is your answer from today 9/11/19 from Bose on another thread!

“Dear Community,

Thank you for your feedback on our power-saving motion detection feature. We take your input seriously and appreciate learning all the different ways these headphones are used by our customers.

We know that many of our Active Noise Cancelling headphone owners often use them to simply block out noise and distractions. For these customers, automatically turning off the product when content is not playing would disrupt their experience. This is why the content-based auto-off feature within the Bose Music app defaults to “Never” on our Noise Cancelling products.

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to forget to turn off your headphones after you take them off. You think it will be a quick pause, but you don’t use your headphones again until the next day. During these times, returning to a depleted battery can be very frustrating. With Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, we wanted to leverage the onboard accelerometer and gyroscope hardware to address that situation. Now, even when content is paused, we are able to save battery life when the product is not in use and stationary.

As you have correctly identified, we set the timer to 10 minutes as our studies indicated this was ample time to resume most listening sessions, while ensuring the product remains responsive to your needs during quick interruptions. Given the feedback on this forum, we have re-evaluated this decision, and will soon be releasing new firmware which increases the timer from 10 minutes to 1 hour. We believe this will improve the experience for many customers who were having an issue with the shorter time while still preserving the battery-saving benefits for the rest of our customers.

After this change goes live, we would love to hear from you to understand if this helped resolve your issue or if further improvements are needed.

As always, we appreciate your feedback, and thank you for being our customer.

Your Bose Community team”

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

Setting the auto off from 10mins is going to be useless!! From all the above comments where people us them whilst snoozing on planes to using them to sleep at night and meditate you should know that 1hr is not anywhere near enough.

You should have the option to totally turn this feature off altogether!! This makes the headphones useless to me as others have also described above.

I want to turn them off when I want! I don’t want to be penalised to save battery

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

1 hour is not enough. What about people like me who use the Headphones for sleeping at homes, airports, etc? We need a 10 hour option. Or better yet, we should have the option of 10 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, or 10 hours.

Bose can set the default at 10 minutes. But then let those who use the Headphones to sleep change to a higher setting. I wish the Bose team had read this thread more carefully. And then Bose would have realized that the 1 hour option is not enough.

But if you can do it for 1 hour. You can do it for 10 hours. And it will save Bose headaches from the complaints of grumpy customers. Thanks so much.

Re: Bose 700 Headphones Auto Shut-Off

Does anyone have an issue with the headphones not disabiling the timeout when you change the Timeout setting in the app to "Never"?
