Bose A20 Mic Gets Warm

Recently the mic windscreen came off and I noticed the mic itself is warm to the touch, all the time. I'm wondering if this is degrading my volume level to others in the cockpit. Aircraft is a 747 with converter plug from 2 GA to 5 pin XLR.

Re: Bose A20 Mic Gets Warm

Hello there,

Thanks for reaching out to the Bose Community. Welcome to the site.

Can you kindly confirm if this has occurred in more than one aircraft? Further to this, you mentioned you are using a converter to switch from 2 GA to 5-Pin XLR. Generally, XLR connections will be powered by the aircraft, whereas General Aviation plugs are battery-powered. With your configuration, have you removed the batteries from the down cable to ensure the power is not being overloaded and potentially causing excessive heat on the mic?

Finally, if this is possible/accessible to you, have you had the opportunity to compare the heat from the microphone on other A20 headsets in your aircraft?

I'll look forward to your reply.

Kind regards,
