I used my QC35 II for the first time 2 days ago with my iPhone 8 and it worked fine.When I was done I shut off both the headphones and iPhone
But now my iPhone 8 won't turn on unless I connect it to a power source first.
Was there some shutdown procedure or setting I was supposed to do on either device that could be causing this?

I'm sorry to hear about that, it's definitely unusual!
We can confirm that there is no procedure that would result in this problem that you have mentioned.
My advice would be to check for any software updates on your iPhone. Failing that, I would have to recommend that you get in touch with apple directly to address this.
