Ditch the master/slave design for the Soundsport Free for the Apple AirPods model

Bose should consider redesigning the firmware and driver for the Soundsport Free, ditching the outdated master/slave architecture for the dual connection model used by the Airpods.

Assuming each earbud has a bluetooth transceiver, Bose could have both earbuds connecting with the device (e.g. phone) but keeping only the right one with an active mic. The device -> right ear -> left ear mess creates too much sound lag and makes it impossible to use the phones for calls in noisy places.

I like the design and the sound quality but this is too expensive to be just a good music wireless headphones.

So will Bose ever make these earbuds connect independently. I use a single bud while at work. It’s annoying to have to use only the right side for everything especially when it dies and you have to wait to charge just the one.

Hi Siege,

Many thanks for your question and welcome to the community.

Currently we have no plans or information about releasing earbuds which can connect independently. However if we were to have any updates with this, we will update our website accordingly.

Have a great day.
