Acoustimass 300 vs 700

Hi,

I see Bose is launching the Acoustimass 700 , however is there any real difference between the earlier version 'Acoustimass 300' and the new 700 ?  .

 I see them adding 'Alexa' as a built in feature in the Soundbar 700 but not too sure about any additional features in accoustimass 700 .  Can anyone clarify please.

You would need to compare the technical specifications, but I doubt there is much diffference in sound quality.  Certainly not enough difference to justify an upgrade.

Thanks for the question.  There is no difference between the AM300 and the AM700.  Only the name has been changed to align with the new sound bar.

I assume the same applies to vi300 surround speakers as well? The new surround 700 speakers look and cost the same.
So if am300 and vi300 are exactly same as their new 700 counterparts then both am300 and vi300 should work perfectly fine with soundbar 700. Right?

I recently bought a soundtouch 300 from bestbuy and an inside the return window. So I'm deciding on weather I should return st300 and but sb700.

Yes this applies to the VI300 and the Surround Speaker accessory package, they interchangeable with all the Wi-Fi enabled soundbars.

I anyway bought the Soundbar 700 from Bose store yesterday and paired it with AM300 and VI300 and it has been working fine. I confirmed with Bose reps before going ahead with the purchase. 

It's been 24 hours of using sb700 and I couldn't be happier with my purchase more. I am well within my return window of ST300 which will go back today. Reason being: I have been using ST300 along with AM300/VI300 and have faced 2 issues in the last 3 weeks of my usage. 

More serious of them being the intermittent popping sound I get from my bass module when used with ST300. It happens randomly but almost every other hour. Online searches showed it is because of wifi interferance between ST300 and AM300. Any troubleshooting and recommendations to fix it didn't help. 

With SB700 and over the period of 24 hours, I haven't heard the popping sound even once. I am inclined to believe that the new soundbar did some improvements in that regard. Will get to know in next few days but so far I am happy.  

One good thing in SB700 is that using the new Bose Music app, I can now adjust the TREBLE of the soundbar. With ST300, it was not possible and the sound was sort of bassy but with SB700 and adjusted treble, I hear things more crisp and can appreciate songs more. AM300 and VI300 perform the same with new sounbbar. So, all in all, I am happy moving to SB700 since I was under the return window of ST300.

I recently went and purchased the SB700 and the BM700 at my local Bose store but was terribly disappointed when the sales associate came out with an older model - Acoutimass 300 box. I mean this was a flagship store and he was trying to convince me that there was no difference. But to me i came in to buy the latest and greatest and not an older model. Granted there’s no difference in sound, bose stores should not sell older models to customers. It’s wrong! It’s like going to a car dealership and buying a 2019 model but the dealers gives you the 2018 one.

So i went to my local best buy and bought the BM700 and here are the side by side difference between the two:

On the backside of the of AM300 there are 3 ports (SERVICE, ACOUSTIMAS IN, SUB IN) while the BM700 has only 2 (SERVICE, BASS IN).

I tested both and don’t seem to hear a difference but it made me feel better knowing that i have the latest model.

yeah agreed , why buy older model even if there is no difference . Unless you get a good discount like how I did 🙂

Exactly!  If bose wanted to get rid of their old AM300, then sell them at a discounted price and not force it to the customers and tell us that it's the same product.  

The sales person told me "oh it's the same product, bose just haven't had a chance to replace the box".  Now that's pure BS to me cause i found a lot of them at my BestBuy store.
