I have a pair of 161s that I mounted horizontally in my Office near the ceiling. I also have a 10" sub that I added since the base was a little underwhelming from the 161s. The Sub has a built in crossover, but my Stereo does not. It's a 20 year old Sony STRDE815G. I want to keep the midrange and higher on the Bose but cut out the low end, however I can't seem to locate any information on what the frequency response is on the 161's. Any Ideas?
The exact frequency response specifications are not published. However, a typical starting point for a crossover frequency for stereo speakers (being used with a subwoofer) would be 80 Hz. I'd recommend testing this first to see how it sounds. Play around with higher or lower settings as well, and see what sounds best for you!
