Cinemate II optical cord sound passage

Hi: Very specific question, please.    I have an older but working well Cinemate II 2 channel speaker system via the optical cable to a Vizio 4K TV.  The input is driven by both an apple 4k and an amazon fire tv cube connected by HDMI to the TV.  If I get a (4K@60Hz HDMI Switch 3x1 with Optical SPDIF & RCA L/R Audio Extractor) Can the Bose speakers play the high-end digital audio?  Or will the optical cable prevent the high-end digital audio pass through to the speakers?

Hi SMF,

Thanks for writing in!

The Cinemate II system is capable of handling PCM and Dolby Digital signals.  The optical cable should certainly be able to pass these formats to the system without an issue.  For audio formats such as Dolby Digital + as an example, will be brought down to standard Dolby Digital.
