Clarity on Soundtouch 300 soundbar

Hello

I am planning to buy the soundtouch 300 soundbar. But before that I would like to clarify the below points.

I have Full HD Samsung TV which has only 2 HDMI ports - 1 is an HDMI ARC and 2nd normal HDMI port. I have a Xbox One and Amazon Fire Stick. I plan to do the following for connection setup.

1. Connect the Amazon Fire Stick to the TV's normal HDMI port.

2. Connect the soundbar's "HDMI Out to TV ARC" to TV's HDMI ARC, and

3. Connect the Xbox One directly to the soundbar's HDMI IN.

Below are my two questions:

a. When I play a Blue Ray disk in the Xbox One, shall I be able to view the video in the TV and the sound will come from the soundbar?

b. When I play a movie on Amazon Fire Stick, shall the sound come from the Soundbar?

It will be helpful if someone can clarify this point.

Thanks a lot.

Hello swastik82

Thanks for posting!

Yes, the setup you have provided is ideal for what you're trying to accomplish.

A:  Yes the video will pass through the soundbar to the TV and audio remains in the soundbar

B: Yes, the sound should be returned using the ARC port on the TV

One thing you would have to do is to setup the soundbar on the network as there is a setting in the SoundTouch app to enable the HDMI audio on the input of the soundbar.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Re: Clarity on Soundtouch 300 soundbar

Hello Tony

One more clarification I require:-

When you are saying "One thing you would have to do is to setup the soundbar on the network as there is a setting in the SoundTouch app to enable the HDMI audio on the input of the soundbar." do you mean

1. Enable HDMI audio for the HDMI Input where I am connecting my Xbox One?

2. Do I need to do this setting on the app everytime I play and blue ray disk or game disk on the Xbox One connected to the HDMI In of the soundbar?

Regards

Hi swastik82

This is a setting that would have to be enabled just  one time.  Out of the box, the system will be able to pass video through to the TV, however for audio to be allowed to the soundbar from that input, it would have to be enabled in the SoundTouch app.
