How can i get the best possible sound out of my bose 500 sound bar?

I own the sound bar and 1 bass module. Don't have any additional speakers. I really only got a problem when I listen to live concerts on my bluray player. I notice the music is louder than the vocals and the audio really doesn't sound that clear to me. It looks like I have to deal the sound settings on my tv and my 4k bluray player. While on my Bose settings I got the bass at 90 and the treble at 50. I left the center level at zero. Most concerts released on bluray has PCM stereo or dts master 5.1 as sound options.

The sound settings of my TV are: it's a Samsung 65 inch curved TV from 2016. Dont remember the models name

HDMI Audio Format: bitstream or PCM?

Audio format: Dolby digital or DTS can't be selected because its faded out. PCM or DTS is only available.

Audio delay: it's at 70

Dolby digital compression: RF or Line?

HD Audio: on or off?

4k bluray player settings: Samsung HD Ultra Bluray player UBD-M8500

Sound output: HDMI audio

Audio Ouput format: the options are Auto, Bitstream(unprocessed),Bitstream(re-encoded DTS), Bitstream(re-encoded Dolby D), and PCM

PCM downsampling: on or off?

Dynamic Range Control: on or off?

Downmixing mode: Normal Stereo or Surround Compitable

DTS Neo:6 mode: on or off?

I have found sticking with the default settings usually works best. Also remember you are using a sound bar, so rear center and height channel codecs like Dolby HD and DTS Neo 6 get lost.

I suggest:

HDMI Audio Format: bitstream

Audio format: Dolby Digital

Audio delay: Default

Dolby digital compression: Default

HD Audio: off or default

4k bluray player settings: Samsung HD Ultra Bluray player UBD-M8500

Sound output: HDMI audio

Audio Ouput format: Auto

PCM downsampling: Default

Dynamic Range Control: Default

Downmixing mode: Default

DTS Neo:6 mode: default or off?

Also run Adapt IQ

Re: How can i get the best possible sound out of my bose 500 sound bar?

Hi Eddydess72001. Thanks for your post and Welcome to the Bose community!

Here at Bose, we want our customers to get the most out of their product and experience our true sound quality.

In my opinion, audio settings and how music may sound is solely down to preference. What could be suggested in one room could produce a completely different sound experience in another room due to the environment and user preferences. In regards to settings, based on the options you have, I would recommend testing selections to discover what may sound the most suitable for you. Adjusting the bass, treble and channel levels will have more of a noticeable change to your sound.

However, If you haven't already, I would highly recommend running our AdaptIQ application which can calibrate the sound to your surroundings.

We hope this helps and if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Warm Regards,
