Thank you for your recent purchase from Bose. We recently discovered a compatibility issue with the universal remote control that was included with the Bose Soundbar 700. If you purchased a Bose Soundbar 500, your remote control is not affected by this issue. If you purchased a Bose Home Speaker 500, your product is also not affected by this issue.
You may have noticed during the setup process that you were not able to complete the remote setup. The functionality used to control other A/V devices does not work as desired, but we are fixing it, and a software update will download automatically to your soundbar on October 4. All you will need to do is make sure your Bose Soundbar 700 is connected to your home Wi-Fi network and has Internet access.
This means that, for a short time, you will not be able to control any of your other A/V devices (cable box, TV, Blu-ray Disc player, etc.) with the remote control. Please note, the remote will still control the Bose Soundbar itself – so you can adjust volume, switch sources, and stream music via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Once your system is updated with the software release, we will send you an email and update this post to remind you to go back into the setup process to reconfigure your universal remote to control your other A/V devices.
We are very sorry that you had to experience this frustration during your initial setup of the product. Please be assured that fixing this issue is our top priority. With every product we make, we strive for the simplest and best customer experience possible. This update and any others that follow will improve your experience so that the Bose Soundbar 700 first meets your expectations and then gets better each time.
