Lifestyle 650 5.2??

Hello everyone. I just purchased a Lifestyle 650 system. I asked the sales rep if you can expand the system to add another subwoofer and they told me there will be a software update in August of 2017 to accept a 2nd subwoofer. I purchased a 2nd Acoustimass 300 subwoofer in anticipation for this update. However, I have tried and tried and cannot find any information on this update. Can anyone confirm this will be true? Thanks in advance!

Hi WideOpen Throttle

I would advise ringing your country's Bose support number which you will find on the Home page of the Bose official site explaining, what you have been told, name of sales rep and store location + the extra purchase you have made reference the information you have been told.

Hope its good news for yourself.

Update for all! Pleased to confirm this rumor was true and I now have a 5.2 system as of last night! Sound is very impressive! I cannot find how to see what version thus is currently running.

God help your neighbours 🙂
On the Bose remote, press setup, scroll down to System Info. and press ok, number 18 ST should show 16.0.13.*****, this is your sound touch version which allows for dual bass.
Happy smooth bass listening 🙂

Re: Lifestyle 650 5.2??

Hi WideOpenThrottle!

That is great to hear! You are indeed able to connect two AM300's to the Lifestyle 650 with version 16.x. You can check the firmware version of the system using the instructions that Squadie had mentioned, or if your system is connected to your network and attached to a SoundTouch account, you can open the SoundTouch application>Menu>About>Lifestyle 650. That page should also list which firmware the system is running.

Thanks for the follow-up!

-Michael

Re: Lifestyle 650 5.2??

Yes you can certainly add another sub.

But the fun ends there.

Bose IS NOT EVEN future proofing the 650 by allowing upgrade to the HDMI 2.1 eARC for Atmos or DTS:X.

Yep! Spent $4000 on a system that will be obsolete in about 1 year. Just isn't that an exciting? A wasted investment of $4000. Way to go Bose. Thanks a million.

Wait . . . I mean thanks a $4000.

How did you connect 2 subwoofers? Is one hardwired and the other wireless? Or are both subs wireless?

They are both wireless. In the setup option there is a specific section that gives you the option to setup a 2nd sub.
