No sound from replacement Bose Lifestyle 5 music center

I previously posted:

Replacement for Bose Lifestyle 5? (V and 2V compatibility)

My parent's have the a Bose Lifestyle 5 music center where the CD player no longer works.  The rest of the system still works good.  Their receiver unit has this on the bottom label:

SERIAL NO U 293477    V 180521-01

I purchased a Bose Lifestyle 5 V2 music center from eBay which
has 2V and 980105 on the bottom label:

The replacement unit from eBay arrived today and was connected to my parents Lifesystle 5 speaker system.  However, there is now sound output.  Here is a video:

My parent's original Lifestyle 5 music center (with the broken CD player) was then reconnected and the sound played OK:

I am thinking I will have to return the unit as defective.  However, I wanted to first check on this fourm:

Any suggestions as to what may be the issue?

Is there any reconfiguration that needs to be done when swapping music center units?

Hello pdp7,

Thanks for supplying such great detail and the videos as well. It seems to be an issue with that new console, since using the "Speakers A"  and system control was connected properly. There is one other way to see if we are able to get audio from the new console, try to connect to the 'Speakers B' and "System Control 2", this was used for expansion products but should still work. You will have to take off the battery door on the remote and change the 6th dip switch to the up position to control the console and volume.

Let me know if this works.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the suggestion.  No luck with that either so looks like the receiver is defective.
