Sounddock Series II Compatibility to Soundbar Series

We are currently using our SoundDock II (Bluetooth) in AUX mode when watching movies on our television. However our SoundDock is producing more of the sound effects and thus, we cannot clearly hear the dialogue. We are planning to buy a Soundbar to produce the dialogue there and the background/sound effects to be on the SoundDock output. Can someone advise me if this will be possible?

Hi nevershatter,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Bose Community. I am sorry to hear that you can't really hear the dialog when using the SoundDock to stream movies and this will be due to the fact that this is not the intended use for this speaker.

In regards to your question about running the SoundDock II with a Soundbar at the same time, this isn't something that would be possible as the devices won't be able to separate the audio nor are they compatible with each other.

A member of the community may have a way that you can do this via a third party adapter or software however we can't recommend this as it would not be a Bose product.

Kind Regards,

Re: Sounddock Series II Compatibility to Soundbar Series

More to the point if you get a soundbar it would be doing both (such at the Soundbar700/500).  You would then move the Soundock into another area for music.

Part of the reason you are having this issue is that the Sounddock is designed for stereo music, not for TV/Video.  So there is no centre channel (where the vocals tend to come out of).  But even for normal TV you will find a huge difference with a Soundbar, both in vocals, clarity and surround.  It's not even about volume, at lower volumes you are still getting better sound and can understand it better.
