Using older bose cubes with new subwoofer

Hello,

If I already have 5 bose cube speakers from a previous older acoustimass system, would buying just a Bose acoustimas 10 series V subwoofer be all I would really need to update my system. Isn't the subwoofer sort of the heart of the system where all speakers eminate from it.... or have the cube speakers also changed enough that I must buy the whole system to truly get the latest and greatest?

Thanks,

Norm

I don't know the answer, but I would just go on eBay and purchase an Acoustimass module.  Since you have 5 cubes, you would probably need two, an Acoustimass 5 and Acoustimass 7.

Re: Using older bose cubes with new subwoofer

Hi yellowmonkey,

Thanks for the question!

They should be able to connect without issue, however depending on the speakers you have they might be tuned a little differently or be a different impedance, which could cause issues in the long term.

Re: Using older bose cubes with new subwoofer

Thanks for the responses. Though I suspected it would probably work ok, I thought it best to seek the wisdom of those probably more in the know than I. For the low money of a slightly used subwoofer, it's worth a try.

Thanks again
