Water In Environmental 51

Hi, new user here so please forgive if this is posted in the wrong section. I purchased new Environmental 51 outdoor speakers and have placed a few in areas which they will eventually be installed. Half are connected with the rest waiting to be completed. We've had a few rainstorms here the past week and I picked up two of the speakers and heard sloshing inside. I turned them over and a bunch of water spilled out of the bottom. The units I have connected are working and I do not want to pull them out of the ground to check but is it normal for the units to take water into the base? Thinking out of the box, does this act as a ballast or draining system? Obviously concerned since I assumed these were sealed somehow.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Bose Community. 

I completely understand why you may be concerned with this but you do not need to be worried. There is a drain hole (shown below) where the water will exit the basin over time.

It is completely safe to do so! Ensure that it is around 1/8".
