computer speakers

My dad gave me a pare of computer speakers "Bose Companion2 Seriesll" On the back there are four plug ins that say input 2 white and 2red.  and of course white is left and red is right. Then an extra plane plug that says to left speaker which I plugged the left speaker into.  but the wires he gave me to hook them up to the computer itself have 1 red 1 white and 1 yellow. when I plug them in there is a very loud humming noise. Im guessing he gave me the wrong wires? should I have a set of wires that does not have a yellow plug? just a red and white?

Re: computer speakers

Hello julieclinger,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Bose Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulty setting up your Companion 2 Series II.

You shouldn't have a problem using this cable as long as you do not connect the yellow plug. Only the red and white cables are required for audio.

I would recommend taking a look at Page 8 of the Owner's Guide which will show you how the connection should be made.

If the issue persists, please try connecting to an alternative device.

Let me know how you get on with this.

Warm regards,
