Bose 321 - range compression

Hi there, I'm interested to know if the range compression feature can be applied to the optical input of a Bose 321 Series II? I'm trying to work it out (remotely) for my parents' Bose 321, as optical is the only output of their TV. 

The manual says "Movie EQ, Range Compression and Mono Decoding affect programs on the TV, even when the source of the program is VCR, CBL,SAT or AUX. There are no separate setting menus for these sources" although it doesn't mention if this specifically applies to the optical input or only the analog audio inputs.

The Range Compression is handled automatically through audio processing. Is everything working correctly in your setup?
