Can’t get Bose Soundbar Universal Remote to work with Bose Solo 5

Any troubleshooting steps you took

Updated firmware on soundbar. Soundbar works but I bought the remote new. It doesn’t control the soundbar and can’t seem to get them paired. Remote material no 809945-0010

It won't work.

 

Bose "Universal" remotes are universal in the context that it will control different TV brands (Sony Samsung etc) as well as other peripherals like BD players. 

 

They will not control all Bose devices.  That remote in particular is designed to control the Bose "Soundbars" (Soundbar 500/700 and I think the Soundbar 300).  And it controls them by a BT connection.  Bose consider the Solo 5 as a TV speaker, not a soundbar and requires an IR remote.

 

Best route to get this remote is calling Bose support direct and they can sell you the correct one.
