Connecting analog turntable to Bose soundbar 700

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows how to connect an analog turntable to the Bose soundbar 700.

I don't see an audio/AUX input port! Any help is much appreciated!

Hello Dasguptar,

Thanks for posting in the Bose Community!

Your best connection method would be to connect the turntable into an analog input on the TV, then use the ARC connection or Optical to feed the audio from the TV out to the soundbar.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Re: Connecting analog turntable to Bose soundbar 700

Thanks Jeff_G!

So the TV would need to be on for me to play the turntable?

Am assuming that the soundbar doesn't have any AUX input I can use (if I were to get an analog to digital converter?).

A bit strange...

Hi there @dasguptar ,

Thanks for following up!

I can confirm that the TV would need to be on and in this channel to receive the audio.

As for using an AUX port or DAC (Digital-Analogue Converter), there is no AUX port available on the Soundbar, and only an Optical or HDMI ARC port. Even if a DAC was used, this would need to have a switch to let you swap between the TV and Turntable sources, which most converters don't have.

I hope this helps answer your question!

Re: Connecting analog turntable to Bose soundbar 700

Hi! Same situation here.

I have the soundbar connected by HDMI ARC to the TV.

I just bought a Turntable with analoge output. And I’m planning to use a Digital converter to Optical Toslink.

Can I use the Toslink port of the Soundbar for the turntable?

Or I’m force to use the TV as an adapter?

Hi Idrmarcos,

Thanks for taking the time to post and welcome to the Community!

The Soundbar will favor the best quality audio over the other. You would need to disconnect from the back of the Soundbar the device you are not listening to.

Re: Connecting analog turntable to Bose soundbar 700

The analog to digital converter to optical Toshlink works very well.

I just connected exactly that way. The RCA cables fromthe analog LP goes into the red/white input of the digital converter and then used the optical output from the converter and connected to the Bose 700.

I also have bluetooth on my record player so can connect both ways.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

I have the optical converter and hooked up my turntable to the optical port on my player. The tv is hooked up to hdmi arc. How do I switch between the two.

Re: Connecting analog turntable to Bose soundbar 700

I don't think you can.  I believe you have to unplug the HDMI into the soundbar to get the soundbar to recognize the optical input.  If you don't want to do that, you can plug your turntable optical into your TV and it will pass the audio signal to your soundbar, but your TV will need to be turned on.
