Re: Lifestyle 38 upgrade

It's obvious what he's trying to do.  He wants to be able to connect his Bose Lifestyle 38 to his smart TV using HDMI or optical as with a new Bose soundbar, etc.  And, he wants to be able to connect his cell phone as with bluetooth or the Soundtouch app, etc.

To the OP, I think the answer to your question is no.

Re: Lifestyle 38 upgrade

Actually, it is a 2 part answer.  You can use a vs-2 to upgrade video from LS38 to 1080 and upgrade to hdmi connection.  I have one and it works great.  You can also use a bose bluetooth adapter to connect any BT device to a lifestyle or a wave.  I have one and it works with Alexa, my lifestyle, my wave, my boselink multiroom wireless connections and my media server.

Re: Lifestyle 38 upgrade

That’s interesting, which Bose Bluetooth did you use, please? I assume it was one of the SoundTouch but which one? I have an AV38 IV. Thanks

Re: Lifestyle 38 upgrade

Hi there, love my Lifestyle 38, but wondering how i can upgrade it with the necessary equipment to smart tv? what type of connectors, etc. As you know, there is no hdmi connection. I am finally getting rid of the xfinity cable box. Please advise, thank you Al

Depending on the Subwoofer you have, you might be able to upgrade your Bose receiver to the last version your sub could support. The only catch is, it would be a 1080p receiver.

I talk about the subwoofer required, the receiver, and a few other options in this post.

I hope that helps 🙂

I'm guessing that comment is for me? Well, it is up to you to decide if you would like to upgrade. It will be a massive leap over your current setup for sure and support uncompressed audio. So if you're only looking at that, then this would be a great upgrade.

Just know that 8K TV's are already being sold and current Lifestyle systems do not support 8K or Dolby Atmos. Though if you look at how long it took for 4K to become the standard, you will have maybe 3-6 years before 8k is the standard.

Since the current Lifestyle line was released in 2016, there is a chance that a new version will come out next year. But Bose is known to take its time upgrading products, so it could be another 3 years. With Bose, it is hard to know for sure 🤷‍♂️

Re: Lifestyle 38 upgrade

NeonsNight me bad, that comment was for you, lol.  Again thanks for the info much appreciated.  i did hear Bose would give me a trade in credit for $1K, but still a big nut to bite off

Sys38 still works like a rockstar. had it for 12 yrs.

Again thanks!
