The Bose Community Forum was launched at a time when robust online support was not available for Bose customers. Over the past several years we have added new online service channels that provide a more interactive and complete digital experience. Additionally, we have enhanced the My Bose Account capabilities to deliver a more personalized and self-service experience. As a result, Bose has made the decision to close Community Forum for Consumer electronics products on September 30th. The Bose Pro portion of the Community will still operate as usual.

Please visit our support homepage to experience one of our many other digital service channels or simply use your Community log-in credentials to sign in to your My Bose Account to view your orders and view support options.

Thank you to all who have contributed and benefited from interacting in our Community. We look forward to continuing to serve you online.

Sound problems playing media via a Mac Mini connected to the TV

Hi everyone,

I've got a tricky one. I've connected my Soundbar to my LG TV (65C9PTA if it helps) via optical, and also have a Mac Mini connected to the TV via HDMI that I use as a media centre for my son. Unfortunately, whenever I play media on the Mini - mainly in VLC, the sound goes a little whack and voices don't come out as clearly as if I were playing the same file directly from the TV.

Does anyone know what the problem is? I'm assuming it has something to do with the translation of audio output from Mini to TV to Soundbar? I've tried changing the audio mode in VLC from original to mono which helps with the voices a little, but no where near the quality if played directly through the TV.

You help would be much appreciated

Re: Sound problems playing media via a Mac Mini connected to the TV

Hey there _tommy,

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome!

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue with the audio when using your Mac Mini and I will do all I can to assist you!

Can you tell me if what you are watching is streamed or stored locally? If streaming, this may cause some disturbances in the audio.

Do you have the same issues with other video devices on the Mac Mini? Such as Netflix. This will help us to determine if the issue is with the source of the setup.

I look forward to hearing from you!
