Soundbar 700 and Simulating 7.1

Sorry if this is a duplicate. I have seen a number of posts on the subject but want to clarify if my approach will work.

I recently purchased a soundbar 700 home theater system. I love it. But always looking for a little more. I’m wondering if I could purchase two additional surround speakers. I would put two to the sides, and two behind. Knowing the soundbar is built for 5.1, I want to pair surround left with rear Left and surround right with rear right. Not really 7.1, but a kind of matrix solution.

I would then re-calibrate and hope for the best. Any comments?

You can't. The soundbar can only be paired with 2 rear speakers and 1 or 2 subwoofers.

If you have read several posts regarding this question, you should know it can't be done.  If you want 7.1, sell your Bose and buy a 7.1 capable system.
