Bose product name

soundbar 700

Firmware Version

App Version

What devices were you using that were affected and what version are they on (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S9 on Android 11, iPhone X on iOS14, etc.)
iphone 11 on iOS 14.4

Detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce

Alexa stopped responding on the soundbar. I can turn TV on and off, and sound from TV will play on the soundbar. I can also control music on the soundbar from Spotify and Alexa app but no direct voice interaction with the soundbar. I have also tried switching from Alexa to Google assistant via Bose music but same issue exists.

What environment do you experience the issue in? (e.g. noisy office, quiet kitchen, etc.)

quiet family room

When did you start to experience the issue? Did it work correctly previously?

two days ago. the last three weeks voice assistant has been unresponsive at time but rebooting the soundbar would correct it.

Any troubleshooting steps you took

I have uninstalled Alexa app, uninstalled Bose music app, uninstalled Spotify app on iPhone, turned power off to TV and soundbar, then reinstalled the apps and rebooted devices. no change. I have deleted Alexa and installed Google Assistant instead. No change. No assistant will come on.

Re: alexa and google assistant stopped working on the soundbar 700 but can be accessed via app

Hi azinr,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community!

The troubleshooting steps you have tried so far are great! Rebooting the soundbar, reinstalling the Bose Music and Alexa apps, and checking Google Assistant as well as Alexa are all great steps to try.

When you are trying to use Alexa, what if any lights do you see on the front of the soundbar? Which of THESE light statuses are closest to what you see? The lights shown will let us know some important information on what is happening when you try and use the voice assistant, and let us know what the next troubleshooting steps will be!
