Left earbud will not connect even with hard reset

What devices were you using that were affected and what version are they on (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S9 on Android 11, iPhone X on iOS14, etc.) - iPhone iOS 14.5
Detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce
left earbud will not connect with right earbud no matter what. It is fully charged and have tried clearing Bluetooth, reconnecting, hard reset within case, etc but only the right will show the blue pairing light while the left, fully charged, will only show white light and not connect to the right earbud.
What environment do you experience the issue in? (e.g. noisy office, quiet kitchen, etc.) all
When did you start to experience the issue? Did it work correctly previously?
yesterday afternoon first time it’s happened.
