As shown earlier, this was a decision by Bose and chip maker to save battery life. I really disliked it at first, now it doesn't bother me at all, espcially when I need the earbuds the most, when driving.

Thanks for posting. I am sorry to hear about your experience with Nordstrom. That is not acceptable to receive something used when purchasing a headset. I would recommend returning them for an exchange. I hope you decide to purchase Bose products in the future.
