Sport Open Earbuds not compatible with iphone Hearing

I have the new Bose Sport Open Earbuds.  I mostly love them (minus no charging case & battery drainage).


However, they are not recognized in the Apple Health Hearing Health for headphone audio levels.  I have designated them as "headphones" as instructed by Apple.  The phone recognizes them, & I can use them to listen to the phone/answer calls/etc., but the hearing part does not recognize them.


Funny enough, my previous bluetooth headphones, which I purchased from CVS for $12 about 8 years ago, were compatible.  I can't believe that the Bose headphones are not, but I don't know what I may be doing wrong.
