Matching speaker impedance rating to A/V receiver impedance rating.

Just trying to get some feedback on this subject; my receiver is rated at 6-16 ohms impedance, but the speakers (301's) are rated at 4-8 ohms. Is this going to cause any problems? They are connected now, setup as 2-channel stereo until I can figure out whether these two are compatible for a long term arrangement. The receiver is rated at 145 watts (5.1), but the volume has to be set up at 32-40 to be loud enough to hear a solid sound. The bass could use some help also, but that might be another topic.

Thanks in advance to anyone out there with any insight on this topic. I'm sure there are answers out there, I just haven't been able to find them.

Re: Matching speaker impedance rating to A/V receiver impedance rating.

Hi Edgar,

Excellent question.  The 301's will work perfectly with your current receiver.  You might not get the most out of your speakers as the wattage is a bit low on your receiver, but this will not cause any damage.

If you have any more questions, please let us know!

Best,

Brandon
