Bose Connect App version 7.0 (IOS) - Do not install - Important

Update December 12, 2018

Bose Connect App version 7.0.1 (IOS) is being rolled out. It should be available to everyone within a week through the Apple App Store.

This fixes the connection issue where the Bose Connect App would not connect to the S1 Pro system.

Thank you for your patience.

Original post December 6, 2018

Hi Everyone,

Please do not update the Bose Connect App to version 7.0 if you are running IOS (iPad, iPhone)

We have identified an issue affecting connectivity of the Bose Connect app with some of our S1 Pro systems. In some scenarios the app may not connect to the S1 Pro system and you won't be able to initiate Stereo mode or Party mode. You still should be able to connect directly from your device via Bluetooth, but not through the Bose Connect App.

If you are using Bose Connect App version 6.3.1 and see the option in the app to do the update - DO NOT do the update.

If you have already installed the new version of the Bose Connect app please try to connect to another Bose Connect app compatible speaker and then re-test your S1 Pro.

If that doesn't work, you can still use Bluetooth (without the app). If you are running two S1 Pro systems, you can use a wired connection from the first S1 Pro line out to the second S1 Pro system for party mode.  There's no workaround for stereo.

I'll post a message here when we get this resolved.

Thanks for your understanding.

ST

Edit: new information

Only IOS (iPad, iPhone) users are affected by this problem.  You should not experience a problem if you are using an Android device.

Workaround:

If you’ve already updated, please try to connect to another Bose Connect app compatible speaker and then re-test your S1 Pro.

Re: Bose Connect App version 7.0 (IOS) - Do not install - Important

My iPad Mini has version 7.0.0 but not 7.0.1. Does it work okay?

Hi Michael M,

Thanks for writing.

Using your iPad Mini and the Bose Connect App, can you connect to your S1 Pro?

Do you have two S1 Pro systems? If you have only one, you won't miss the party mode or stereo mode.

I do have two S1 Pro units. As soon as I get a chance, I'll see if I can connect to it.

Hi ST,

what about if is too late and I have already installed the latest update? Any chance to be able to download the previous version of the Bose Connect App?

I'm sorry, we don't have a way to revert back to or install the previous version.

As soon as we have solution, I'll write about it here.

Quick Updates:

Only IOS (iPad, iPhone) users are affected by this problem.  You should not experience a problem if you are using an Android device.

Workaround: If a different supported product is connected before the S1 Pro is, you can then connect to the S1 Pro.

I have both iOS and Android devices with Bose Connect installed.  Is it OK to install the latest on my Android phone and still use the older version on my iPad?

I've been hesitant to install the latest on my Android phone.

Hi Daniel Proctor,

Yes, you can install the Bose Connect App version 7.0 for Android on your phone. That's fine.
