Differences between L1 Model II of 2010 and actual

Like subject, I'd want to know if there is any difference between Model II of 2010 and the actual.

Re: Differences between L1 Model II of 2010 and actual

Hi Maxcarella,

Thank you for joining the Bose Pro Portable Community. This is great question.

If you are performing through your L1 Model II from 2010 or yesterday, you probably won't notice a difference. Physically there have been no changes to the Cylindrical Radiator® or the exterior of the Power Stand.

There have been minor changes along the way.

  • 2012 - Firmware version 1.4 and system EQ 1.04
    • This provides support for the B2 bass module
    • This is user installable if you have a Bose T1®
  • 2015 - factory installed firmware 1.5
    • Supports a minor hardware revision
    • This is not user installable as it does not apply to earlier units
  • 2015 - Fan
    • Starting in mid-2015 the fan behaviour is different: The fan runs quietly all the time. Previously, it turned on only under load.
    • There is no retrofit for this functionality

Does that help?

I'm curious: This is an interesting question. Why do you ask?

Re: Differences between L1 Model II of 2010 and actual

I'm a little bit interested on this fact because I'm a old customer of L1 since the Model I, but then I've purchased Model II in 2010, but I sold it in little time because in this period, doesn't exist yet B2 subs, and also 2 B1 was not enough for me. Now I've L1 Model II with one B2, and seems that sounds very very different than the oldest one.

Probably I will add another B2 with the A1 amp.
In your opinion could be a good idea for live music?

I've just purchased the new S1 Pro for monitoring, I'm waiting for his arrival.

The B2 changes the overall character of the low end. I think that's the biggest difference between what you hear now and what you remember with your first L1 Model II. It is so hard to compare memory of sounds even moments apart.

It really depends on the live music (what kind) and the places where you perform (how big, how many people, what are they doing while you play)?

Please tell us what you think of the S1 Pro when it arrives. We have a separate forum for it here:
