How to connect Old TV to S1 Pro for karaoke

Requirements

I want to use my TV as Karoke, my TV is old Smart TV which does not have blue tooth, it has Optical Audio out. would like to connect to S1 Pro via Blue tooth using Bluetooth transmitter (which connects for TV Optical Audio Out to Bluetooth transmitter), would like to pair with S1 Pro for Music, i will use SM58 for channel 1 and Channel 2 for Vocal. I would like to know whether feasibility option. If so could you recommend right Bluetooth Transmitter.

Second option, i have Yamaha xu10, I can connect output form TV (Optical Audio Out to Mixer), Mixer output will go to S1 Pro, can i connect both of the Mixer Audio out to Channel 1 and Channel 2 of S1 Pro, I will be connecting SM58 to Yamaha Mixer for Vocal, if i have set the tone match on S1 Pro will it work?, let me know recommendation on this

Re: How to connect Old TV to S1 Pro for karaoke

Hello hnataraj,

Welcome to the forum! Thank you for posting.

In theory, either of these proposed setups will work. Personally, I would go with the second option using the Yamaha MG10XU, because a setup with a Bluetooth transmitter would be more susceptible to audio dropouts and wireless interference.

Connecting the master output from the MG10XU to inputs 1&2 on the S1 Pro would be fine. With this setup, I'd advise keeping the channels on the S1 Pro FX-free and instead using the built-in FX on the MG10XU for individual channels on the mixer.

Hope this helps!

Re: How to connect Old TV to S1 Pro for karaoke

Hi nataraj,

1) "FX" refers to effects processing, so "FX-free" would mean no effects are being applied to the audio source. For the S1 Pro, the only onboard effect is reverb.

2) The S1 Pro gives two onboard ToneMatch settings on channels 1&2 - "Guitar" and "Microphone".  These settings are ideal when a vocal mic or acoustic guitar is plugged directly into channel 1 or 2 on the S1 Pro.

However, if you are using the MG10XU to mix backing tracks and vocals before going into the S1 Pro as in Option 2, I recommend leaving the ToneMatch settings 'Off'. This is because the ToneMatch settings are designed to be applied to individual instruments, rather than a mix of several instruments playing together.

I hope this is clear, if you have any other questions let me know!
