Just completed my new dual Pro32/Sub 2 system!

I just got my new dual Pro32/Sub2 setup!  Although I do tend to use just a single system I do on occasion use two. I am very excited about the new sound. In a word... wow! I also have the T4S mixer and am pretty impressed with it so far.

By the way for those who don’t know me am a DJ/KJ/LiveSound Technician and musician. I have used Bose portable PA equipment for over 10 years now (L1/F1/S1).

I saw a video with a rep from Bose speaking with two DJs (on YouTube)... the Bose rep was talking with the one DJ and he said in stereo he uses one Pro32 per side of his table... and the Bose rep didn’t even mention the old “best to keep the L1 systems 20’ apart rule” to help eliminate phase cancellations... is this not an issue with the new Pro32 systems?

Re: Just completed my new dual Pro32/Sub 2 system!

Hello DJ JD BASS,

I think the "20' apart rule" to reduce phase cancellation was suggested more for dual-mono sound than true stereo.  Of course, even in stereo mixes the bass and drums tend to be mixed to center, but grouping the bass subs together in the center would take care of that.  I think it all depends on the quality of the source material and the skill of the recording engineer and producer regarding stereo "placement" of instruments and vocals in the mix.

In the end, your experience with what you hear is the best guide!

Re: Just completed my new dual Pro32/Sub 2 system!

Hey JD!

I brought this topic up with an @bose  official in a webminar a few months back.  The same rules apply for dual-mono, mostly because of the wide dispersion.  The old rule was because back when the T1 was our only option, very few of us could be bothered making our dual L1 system run in true stereo.

Now that "stereo" is an option, we shouldn't see the 20ft issue as much, because each of the 2 speakers is putting out a slightly different signal (because that's how stereo works).

That aside, DUAL Pro32?  Are you insane?!?  🤣

Are you stacking the subs or running them seperately?

Re: Just completed my new dual Pro32/Sub 2 system!

At this point I have’t actually tried a dual Pro32 system yet, but I am sure for some rooms I am sure for some rooms I will use two. I would most likely stack the subs under the table and put them in cardioid pattern. I am excited to hear what it sounds like!

Re: Just completed my new dual Pro32/Sub 2 system!

I thought of the 32 pair myself . I am still anticipating a system purchase. I have had a recording studio for years and decided to get out and do some playing. (not DJ)

The single system for guitar/vocal and the dual system if I want to use backing tracks in STEREO.

I understand an external mixer will be required as each array is only mono. Easy to send L/R out from and external mixer.

My question I have is....why do Bose market the Sub 1 in a package for the 32 if it is only half the output of a L1Pro 16?  Like a Pro 8.

Seems to me that would be a mismatch no? IF you are doubling the output of the array but cutting in half the bottom end of even a pro 16 where does that leave you.  Is it pretty much a given to go with the SUB2? Even in a musician back track scenario?

I use sub1’s a lot with the 32’s. Sounds great.

@DJ JD BASS @I too am interested in the Pro 32 vs F1. JD was very influential in my decision to purchase F1 systems.
