L1 Pro 8 - not always connecting to base

Hi -

Got my L1 Pro 8 last week.  Sounds really great and have gotten some rave reviews from 2 vocalists who are not easy to impress.

I'm concerned about how the extension and 'stick' fit into the base unit.  About half the time, the sound on top doesn't work.  I have to wiggle the top and kind of lean it back so that it's not really 'flush' with the bottom unit.  is this 'normal'?   the good news is that it has always worked and stayed working once it does make the connection.

I do wish there was more of a locking mechanism

Also, I've had issue with streaming music from iphone.  The app connects and I can adjust the PA, but the option in settings to turn the streaming on says it can't connect and the only thing that works (sometimes) is deleting all the connections on the phone and the app and starting again.  It worked great once or twice, but now is being very difficult.  It also seems to come up with a different name in my bluetooth device list... sometimes it's L1 Pro and sometimes LE-L1-Pro (and sometimes both!)... any tricks of the trade for making it work well and not having to wrestle with that every time I set up at a gig?

thank you!

Re: L1 Pro 8 - not always connecting to base

Hello scooter1,

I don't have one of the new L1 Pro series, but there have been a couple of discussions here on the forum and the Bose L1 Facebook group regarding the fit of the extensions, including some where seating the column sections seemed to be tight.  As long as everything seems to be mating properly, I don't think you'll damage anything by giving a little extra push to make sure it's seated.  I anticipate it will become easier over time.  Perhaps a Bose admin can jump in here to confirm.

Each of the L1's, ever since the Classic, have had various comments on being "too tight", or "too loose", or "too wobbly".  I know some folks had problems pulling sections apart as well, and a 3M dry lubricant was suggested for the tower sections (but not for the electronic connectors.)

Regarding the Bluetooth connection:  The L1 Pro systems each have two Bluetooth channels (as you've discovered):  "L1-Pro" and "LE-L1-Pro".  The "L1-Pro channel is the one you should always use for your music source.  The "LE-L1-Pro" channel (LE for "low engergy") is only for use with the L1 Mix app.  Since I don't have an L1 Pro series, I don't have any experience with using these channels.  Sorry I can't be of more help with that issue.  Again, hoping a Bose mod can jump in on this.

Does that help?
