Ive recently purchased the L1 ii with 2 smaller bass bins and t4 tonematch.

Ive got to play a couple of larger venues (b tracks & 3 vocals) with from 300-400 guests
Have you tried the L1 in this setting yet? You might not need any more loudspeakers.
and was wondering whether linking either some Mackie 12s or 2 Evox 8s would be advisible to bolster sound or whether this would generate problems

Ideally, you want to place the loudspeakers where sound coverage is required - and avoid overlapping the coverage areas. Having multiple loudspeakers playing into the same area can generate problems.
To avoid problems, put additional loudspeakers in the area(s) where the L1 cannot be heard well.
