MP3 track quality - Bit Rates - DJs and KJs

Hi, DJs and KJs.

Are you using MP3 files in your DJ/KJ practice?

Can you hear the difference with mp3 files recorded at different bit rates?

Here's some more information on the subject.

What is a Good Bitrate Guideline for MP3 Files?

How to Check the True Bitrate of Your Audio Files

Please tell us what gear you are using and the results you get a different bit rates.

Thanks!

Re: MP3 track quality - Bit Rates - DJs and KJs

I use lossless audio for my newer songs, but use 320Kbps MP3 for my older songs (pre-2010). I can definitely tell the difference between 320 MP3 and lossless. I can also tell the difference between the different bitrates of MP3 files, mainly because my ears are trained for it. For the usual wedding/event guest, they won't be able to tell the difference.

I have found that with the typical amount of ambiant house at an event, no one will notice.
